The Problem

 

.   .   .   Sometimes we have problems and conflicts that we can not resolve ourselves.

 

            Too often we find ourselves involved in situations where we need experienced, professional help to find the answers.

 

            But too often we don’t know where to find that assistance or if we can afford it.

 

            Now, you are entitled to free advice and consultation from your own lawyer 0 advice that will let you know exactly where you stand and what you can do to resolve your problem.

 

            And if you need an attorney, the legal program is prepared to represent are provided you at a reduced fee rate sponsored by the PCCPCE Association.  These services are provided to you at a cost much lower than you would pay else-where.  In fact, many legal services are provided to you at no cost.

 

.   .   .   The Legal Plan is a comprehensive program that provides legal advice and representation to members of the PGCPCE Association and eligible members of their families in the basic area of the law which affect us all:

What it does

 

.   .   .   The plan provides you with ready access to a competent, concerned legal staff available for consultation or representation, even in emergencies.  This legal staff can act as your own representative in most of the legal and financial problems you will ever face.  The attorneys are certified to practice in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.

 

Where?

 

.   .   .   The plan will provide representation in the Washington, DC metropolitan area including suburban Maryland and Virginia.  In the event you have a problem outside the area, we will assist you in obtaining local counsel in that area.

 

How much does it cost?

 

.   .   .   For a member and their families, there is no cost for the following services provided by attorneys and support staff:

ü      Unlimited telephone and office consultation on most legal matters

ü      Bail Bonds Representation

ü      Review of Residential Leases

ü      Defense Against Mortgage Foreclosure Action

ü      Defense Against Zoning Violation

ü      Uncontested Adoptions

ü      Change of Name

ü      Establishment of Birth Certificate, Birth Date and Place

ü      Assistance in Preparation of Small Claims Cases

ü      Verification of Foreign Divorce Decree

ü      Review and Preparation of Small Claims Cases

ü      Review and Preparation of Naturalization Applications

ü      Consultation Over the emergency Legal Services Hot Line

ü      Preparation of Simple Legal Documents

ü      Notary Service

 

.   .   .   The following services are provided to members and their families at the reduced fees noted below.  But costs including court costs, filing fees, closing costs, deposition fees and any other cost required by government agencies and third parties, for example, stenographers, must, of course, be paid by the client

Criminal

 

            Reckless Driving & Speeding                                         $50/hr.

 

            Driving While Intoxicated                                                 $500

Bankruptcy

 

            Personal Bankruptcy (uncontested, no assets)        $250

What about personal injury cases?

 

.   .   .   The plan provides coverage for you and your dependents for claims when you suffer injuries due to an accident which was not your fault.  In cases where you are awarded money as a result of your injuries the fee to you will be a maximum of twenty-five percent (25%) of the total recovery.  In the event you do not receive any payment through settlement or by a Court Award for injuries suffered in the accident, you will not be charged any attorney’s fees.

1.                  Call the appropriate office.  Hours are:

            Monday – Friday – 9:00 am – 5:30 pm

2.                  Be prepared to briefly describe the nature of your legal problem.  An appointment will be made with a specialist in that area

3.                  For the first appointment you will need your social security number

4.                  Be on time.  If you have to break your appointment, please try to notify the office at least 24 hours in advance.

 

Who is eligible?

 

.   .   .   Any current member in good standing of the PGCPCE Association is eligible.  Also eligible are members’ spouses and dependents.

 

Emergency Hot Line

 

.   .   .   Advance appointments are recommended.  In the event that you have an emergency or a crisis for which you need immediate legal advice, you may call the “HOT LINE” (202) 452-8080 at any time.  You will be put in touch with appropriate legal assistance.

 

Remember

 

.   .   .   The best way to prevent legal problems is to nip them in the bud, before they happen.  That means you should call the office before you sign the lease, before you go to settlement on you new home, or before you are forced to go to court.

            Your legal assistance plan can then try to help you before you lose time at work and peace of mind incident to your legal problem.

            The Plan exists for you.  The legal staff stands ready, willing and able to provide competent legal assistance.  They are concerned about you.
